Mayor Adams, Governor Hochul and Partnership for New York Launch Citywide "We ❤ New York" Campaign

On March 20, New York City Mayor Eric Adams, New York Governor Kathy Hochul and the Times Square Partnership of New York City launched the "We ❤ NYC" campaign to showcase the city's strengths and mobilize New Yorkers in every neighborhood.

The citywide campaign will begin by honoring New Yorkers who are making a difference through community service and identifying volunteer opportunities for New Yorkers. Part of the campaign also includes an initiative led by NYC Service called "Spread Love NYC." This nine-month cross-sector initiative will engage New Yorkers in short-term, hourly and long-term volunteer projects to improve the lives of their neighbors and communities. The campaign will feature murals throughout the city created by local artists with the support and participation of community members and featuring the new We ❤ NYC logo. One future location for the murals is the NYCHA-owned Morrisania neighborhood in the Bronx.

"Public art reflects the dynamics and tells the story of our communities, and we are excited that through a participatory process, Morrisania Air Rights residents will be able to create a new mural. Thank you to all of our partners who made this possible, as I know this mural will be a wonderful addition to the project " said NYCHA CEO Lisa Bova-Hiatt.

"This city has overcome the darkest days of the pandemic thanks to the dedicated work of New Yorkers, and if each of us dedicates just one hour a week to an act of service, the result will be transformative. That's why I'm proud to announce the launch of We ❤ New York." everyone who loves the city, show it by reaching out and spreading that love to every neighborhood in all five boroughs," said Mayor Adams.

The campaign's themes focus on how New Yorkers can help improve the city, focusing on public safety, supporting small businesses, maintaining parks and cleaning up trash. The campaign, aimed at empowering residents to make change in their own communities, plans several partnerships with government agencies and non-profit organizations throughout the city to create a safer, more livable and business-friendly city.

Planned activities include:

  1. Earth Day activities in partnership with NYC Parks to engage record numbers of New Yorkers to care for local parks;
  2. community cleanups in partnership with the New York City Department of Sanitation (DSNY) across all five boroughs;
  3. Metropolitan Transportation Authority's "Music Under New York," a live audition that will allow residents to vote on which performers will be allowed into subway station entertainment;
  4. small business promotions and opportunities to support entrepreneurs, including "Shop Black" and a competition to determine the best dishes offered by local restaurants.
