A public hospital is opening in Brooklyn for the first time in 40 years.
A state hospital is opening in Brooklyn. The hospital at Ruth Bader Ginsburg on Ocean Parkway was funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency. The project cost 923 million. What makes it special is that the building has an elevated, flood-proof emergency department. In short, the 11-story hospital is built to withstand storms of varying severity.
