Woman swindled nearly $3 million from retired Holocaust survivor

Peaches Stergo, 36, from Florida, met her 87-year-old victim in 2017 on a dating site. The woman immediately got down to business: she asked for money to pay for a lawyer. In the course of further “romantic” communication, Stergo lured more and more money from the elderly man: as a result, the pensioner wrote her 62 checks totaling $2,8 million. While the fraudster was buying branded clothing and going to resorts, the man lost his apartment.

Stergo admitted her guilt and is ready to compensate for the damage caused. She faces up to 20 years in prison for fraud.
