Indiana funeral director pleads guilty to stealing 40 bodies

An Indiana funeral home director did not perform funeral services for which he was paid. Now he faces imprisonment and a fine. The funeral home owned by Randy Lankford was found to contain 31 decomposing bodies and the remains of 17 other bodies. The man took funds from the relatives of the deceased, but did not fulfill his obligations to them. The suspect pleaded guilty to 40 thefts. Lankford faces 4 years in prison and 8 years of home confinement. He must also pay compensation to 53 families totaling $46.
