In Connecticut, executed witches convicted 370 years ago were acquitted and apologized for a “miscarriage of justice”

The Connecticut State Senate acquitted 12 people sentenced to death for witchcraft. 11 of them received their sentences back in the 17th century. Connecticut senators have considered a resolution to exonerate "witches" sentenced to death 370 years ago. The acquittal of those convicted of witchcraft was supported by 33 members of the Senate. Supporters of the resolution said it was important to right the wrongs of the past and apologized for the "miscarriage of justice" committed more than 300 years ago. Only Republican Senator Rob Sampson voted against it. He noted that “it looks childish to decide what was the right thing to do many years ago.”
