Firefighter goes blind in one eye after using recalled drops
Naples (Fla.) Fire Captain Adam DiSarro is suing EzriCare and Delsam Pharma, makers of eye drops that were found to be contaminated with an incurable infection. He will also sue Amazon, which distributed the drops. The man said that he had been using drops for dryness in his left eye for several years, but last fall he began to feel severe itching. When antibiotics didn't help, doctors thought Di Sarro would lose his eye. However, Dr. Guillermo Amezcua of Miami used an experimental light treatment that cleared the infection.
