North Carolina to ban abortions after 12 weeks
The Republican Party in the North Carolina Legislature passed a decision to ban abortions after 12 weeks. Debate on the ban lasted five hours in the Senate, and it was approved by a vote of 29 to 20. The legislation was sent to Democratic Governor Roy Cooper, who called it “extreme” and promised to veto it.
However, the Legislature can override the governor's veto if Republicans maintain party unity. If passed, access to the procedure would be reduced in the last state without restrictions in the southern US.
