Depression rates among Americans hit new high

17,8% of people in the United States now suffer from depression, up seven percent from 2015, according to a new Gallup report. Women are most likely to experience depression, with 36,7% saying they have ever experienced the condition, compared with 20,4% of men. The incidence rate is highest in adults aged 18 to 29 years. Depression rates are also skyrocketing among black Americans and Hispanics. Experts say the phenomenon is gaining momentum around the world, with four in XNUMX adults saying they themselves or someone close to them has experienced severe anxiety or depression.
