Immigrants, desperate to find American love by chance, move on to more drastic measures - “business relationships.” Fraud marriage is a taboo topic in many immigrant circles: many consider this method of immigration shameful. True, most of those who think so have themselves committed immigration fraud when obtaining documents. The idea is simple: a citizen receives from $20 thousand to $40 thousand for a marriage, and in exchange for several years he pretends that the marriage is real and happy. The immigrant receives documents, waits another six months or a year to be sure, and then the couple divorces under unknown circumstances. Well, who doesn’t it happen to? Everyone is happy: the citizen has money for a new car, and the foreigner has citizenship.
A fictitious marriage, unlike a real one, is a federal crime. If exposed, the citizen could be sent to prison and the foreigner deported to his banana republic. Another risk that not everyone takes into account: a citizen may disappear after receiving the first tranche (for example, after making an advance payment of $5-10 thousand). The “victim” is unarmed: an immigrant cannot tell the police that he was cheated while trying to enter into a fictitious marriage
