Language proficiency requirements for obtaining American citizenship

A completely different situation arises when an immigrant has lived in the United States for many years on a permanent basis and is applying for American citizenship. In this case, he is required to pass an English language proficiency test. But even in this case there are exceptions. Exemption from the English language test provides for two so-called formulas: 50/20 and 50/15. Conditions:

-If the applicant for citizenship is a Green Card holder over the age of 50 who has resided permanently in the United States for at least 20 years.

-A green card holder who is over 55 years of age and has lived permanently in the United States for the last 15 years can also apply for citizenship without passing a language exam.

-Permanent residence implies the ability to travel abroad on vacation for no more than 2 months a year.

-An applicant with a certain type of disability that does not allow him to study English is exempt from taking the language test to obtain US citizenship. However, many immigrants abuse this permit. They are trying to deceive immigration officials. To use it, experts advise first consulting with a lawyer.
