Montana could become the first state to completely ban TikTok
Montana lawmakers are set to vote on a bill that would ban TikTok entirely. If the vote is successful, the document will be sent for signature to the state governor Greg Gianforte, who has already banned TikTok on government devices. The bill would ban TikTok downloads in the state. Any app store that allows the app to be installed will face a $10 fine for each download in the state. There are no penalties for users. Experts say the ban will face legal challenges and also serve as a prime example of what awaits the US if the app is banned nationwide.
