A storm is approaching California that will bring heavy rain and mountain snowfall.

In the coming days, Californians will encounter unusual May showers: this is especially true for residents of Los Angeles, San Diego and Fresno. Forecasters say thunderstorms and even hail are possible in the central part of the state. Residents in many areas will also need to dress warmer, with average daytime temperatures expected to remain below 60°F (15°C). Cold air will bring snowfall to the higher elevations of the Sierra Nevada and the mountains of southern California.
