New York plans to turn hotels into shelters due to expected wave of migrants

A number of New York City hotels will be turned into emergency shelters. This is due to the expected wave of migrants due to the lifting of pandemic restrictions. The city is legally mandated to provide shelter to anyone in need.

New York Mayor Eric Adams said the Roosevelt Hotel, which was closed for renovations three years ago, plans to provide 1000 rooms for migrants. Emergency shelters are expected to be added to other hotels in the city. Many are located in prime locations, such as within walking distance of Times Square.
