San Francisco uses the National Guard to fight drug addicts

City officials have sent 14 National Guard soldiers and several highway patrol officers onto the streets to combat drug trafficking, but experts say the measures are futile. Drug addicts don't care how many policemen and National Guardsmen patrol the city. Drugs are quietly sold - sometimes even near federal buildings.

The drug crisis, exacerbated by South American cartels, has not gone away: some neighborhoods of San Francisco have turned into zombie areas due to the free circulation of fentanyl.
