WHO warns of a new approaching pandemic that will be deadlier than the last one
The head of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, has warned that the COVID-19 pandemic is far from over. He said there was still a threat of another coronavirus variant emerging that would cause new waves of infections and deaths.
“When the next pandemic comes knocking – and it will – we must be ready to respond decisively, collectively and fairly,” Ghebreyesus said.
According to WHO, the COVID-19 pandemic has killed 7 million people worldwide, 1,13 million of whom are in the United States.
