Botox injections negatively affect relationships

Scientists published a study in the authoritative publication Nature proving that Botox disrupts the perception and expression of emotions. It temporarily paralyzes the muscles (smoothes out facial wrinkles), which a person uses to be surprised, upset, and happy. “We always unconsciously imitate the facial expression of the interlocutor to recognize emotion,” shares the lead scientist of the study. This causes misunderstanding not only on the part of others - they cannot understand what a person with Botox feels because his face is frozen, but he himself cannot be fully empathic towards others, since the muscles are immobilized.

Researchers studied the brains of ten women aged 33 to 40 years before Botox injections and after three weeks, when the subjects could no longer frown or smile. They had an MRI, during which they were shown photographs of people's faces with different emotions - happy, sad, angry and neutral. It turned out that Botox disrupts the transmission of signals between the facial muscles and the brain: a person with injections experiences fewer feelings and is less able to recognize the feelings of others.
