Singles in danger: single men die from heart failure twice as often

Scientists from the University of Colorado analyzed information on 6800 male patients 45 years of age and older. They then recruited 94 volunteers with heart failure and followed them for five years. Studies have shown that single men with this diagnosis die from the disease over the next five years 2,2 times more often than married men. At the same time, the chance of premature death does not increase among widowers and divorcees.

Scientists suggest that men often rely on a woman to take care of their health: bachelors rarely go to the doctor or do not take prescribed medications.
