Woman who hit protesters sentenced to 5 hours community service

In December 2020, Kathleen Casillo was driving with her adult daughter when BLM protesters blocked their path. According to the woman, she was scared, panicked, and then pressed the gas. As a result, the car hit the protesters, who did not have time to run away. As a result of the collision, 6 people received injuries of varying severity.

Until now, the driver has not been convicted: the Manhattan prosecutor's office (the same one that is trying to convict Trump) twice offered a plea agreement, but each time the accused refused. The last such proposal was a punishment of 6 days of community service and deprivation of the right to drive a car for a year. Finally, today in court the parties reached a plea agreement and the driver was sentenced to 5 hours of community service. If the convicted person does not commit new crimes within 6 months, then the charge of hooliganism will be dropped.
