Pizza was invented in America
Alberto Grandi, a professor of culinary history at the University of Parma (Italy), said the world should thank the United States for pioneering modern pizza. Italian immigrants introduced new ingredients to the United States, which they used to improve the classic pizza, which, according to Grandi, was then more like a “poorly prepared” focaccia. In addition, many Italians also tried the iconic pasta for the first time in America, and then brought the recipes back to Italy, where they were once again transformed and became signature.
